Immigrants are also Pennsylvanians who are constantly choosing between our safety and survival, constantly under a threat of family separation, unable to access basic human rights- all due to unjust laws. While on a federal level we are seeing threats to vital programs that provide access to healthcare and food. the administration is deciding to spend millions of taxpayer money on a mass deportation campaign. This is causing violations of our rights, fears throughout communities, and distractions of larger attacks. An attack on one sector of the working class is an attack on all of us.
Currently Governor Shapiro has the power to protect our immigrant families but has ignored our demands.
Our demands:
Governor Shapiro meet with Immigrant Rights organizations across the state to discuss the needs of Immigrant families
Make the drivers license for all campaign (HB 1518) a priority by allowing your departments to demonstrate support to advance this legislation
Stop all of Pennsylvania's collaboration with ICE

HB1518 will improve the safety of all Pennsylvanians in three ways

Safety on the roads
Keeping roads safer, economies healthy, and families together.
From policymakers to law enforcement, from farmers to faith communities, there is a consensus that roads and communities are safer when everyone behind the wheel has a license, insurance, and identification. It is necessary to encourage all drivers in PA to obtain: Accessible driving licenses and valid identification for everyone is a common sense policy.
A standard (NON-Real ID) Driver’s License is required for:
✓ Valid identification
✓Proof of insurance
✓ Adequate knowledge of the rules & responsibilities of the road

Economic Impact
The first year of enacting proposed legislation could see between $2.76 M to $4.14 M in revenue from licensing fees alone, with a possible $2.36 to 3.54 M in subsequent years, far outpacing the cost of implementation.
Despite the smaller immigrant population, Pennsylvania could expect a $13 million increase in revenue from taxes, registration fees, license fees, and vehicle-related purchases in the first three years after implementation. This includes annual increases like the increases in sales tax and one-time license fees that would be renewed once the license expires. Every 4 years, an additional $30.50 in renewal fees would be charged to the applicant, who is not included in the total estimation since we are looking at licenses issued within the first three years of the expansion. -
Safeguard our privacy
Ensure the Privacy of Driver Information. The bill would add a host of crucial protections for driver data, including safeguards around sharing personal information.
Pennsylvania needs a common-sense approach to processing identification documents without indefinitely retaining private documents and making PA residents vulnerable to having their information used without their consent.

Second, we believe that immigrants are those who have the expertise to advocate for themselves, as we appreciate the support of allies who believe in justice for immigrants and respect our inclusion. Third, we believe in the value of mutuality as a starting point, as we all have the skills to contribute and learn. Finally, we believe in the freedom to express our knowledge and creativity without fear of judgment.
The Coalition is state-wide, committed to working with good communication and responsibility for our work. We share work, ideas, and opinions about each campaign step. We are committed to fulfilling all our work goals because we know we work for all immigrant communities in Pennsylvania.
We support and include all communities regardless of race, country of origin, language, immigration status, social class, gender, sexual orientation, age, or criminal history. We believe in second chances. We appreciate taking chances without fear of making mistakes and taking responsibility, and we maintain open minds to learn from mistakes. We promote faith in the divine, our communities, leaders, and teamwork. We work with humility, integrity, commitment, and responsibility to support each other in a supportive, respectful, and inclusive manner.
